A Love Letter to the Internet

Hi everyone,

I’m Lucas, creator of Analog Reader.

The Internet has changed my life more than anything else. Learning new languages, connecting with friends all over the world, and learning anything I ever wanted to learn.

But at some point it became something else. It started consuming more and more of my day, leaving little time for anything else. I started consuming media in a never-ending stream from morning till night.

The first time I felt this was in college, a couple of friends and I had to actively delete all social media apps from our phones to be able to study for our finals.

But once the finals had gone by, we’d all be back on the apps.

And we thought little of it.

Days go by, and you eventually lose track of how much of your life you have stopped living. Suddenly you don’t read books anymore, you don’t go out with friends, you quit your hobbies. And the day never feels like it has enough hours for everything.

You get exhausted, and then you put a screen on your face to distract yourself from those feelings.

But life doesn’t have to be like this.

I created Analog Reader to allow me to get the positives of the internet, while avoiding the negatives. The main reason printed newspapers were so good was the feeling of done. You flip pages, skim others, and read a few, and by the last page you are done.

The most important thing in Analog Reader is to give you that sense of done just like printed newspapers. No more doomscrolling endlessly. Now you get a paper with a fixed number of pages, just like your mom and dad used to get, but with the things that interest you. Your favorite newsletters, social media feeds, and more.

Analog Reader is my personal love letter to the internet, keeping what’s great about it while shielding you from the worst parts.
