Anti Book List

These are the books I absolutely do NOT recommend; this is the opposite page to Books I love.

Some of them in no particular order:

• Marcus Aurelius Meditations: It reads like a sad old man who has little agency over his own life; it wasn't meant to be read by others; it was his private journal. I do not recommend this if you are looking for wisdom or if you need to break out of depressive moments in your life. This book will make you sink deeper. Get up and do something to help your life, go to church, therapy, or get in the gym. This book, in the hands of someone who has internalized powerlessness, will make them sink deeper into it.
• O Cortiço, I hate this book; it's mandatory for Brazilians to study this book for university exams, and I hated it. I hated it even more because it was mandatory.
• The Secret. I genuinely think this book has done more harm to humanity than the book Hitler wrote. This book has given people the permission to procrastinate while hoping things would fall into place for them. YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS BENEFIT, YOU NEED TO WORK FOR THE THINGS YOU WANT TO GET. Drop this book, sure believe, sure make up goals in your mind but GET YOUR ASS UP AND WORK FOR IT.
